Public Speaking

This picture is from bradfizpatrick.com.

The video's point was pretty clear. Almost everyone is terrified when they get in front of an audience to make a speech. Many questions are rushing through your mind about how the audience will perceive your speech and how they will react. "What if they don't like the speech?" Public speaking is something everyone is going to have to do at one point or another and if we get up in front of everyone terrified they are going to notice. The audience can smell fear. I think we can learn from this video that we should get in front with our head held high. If we say our speech with confidence it will turn out much better than if we worry about everyone's opinions and the fact you want to hide under a rock. Once you are finished giving your speech you will feel so much better about it if you give it with confidence. Plus, with confidence even if you do mess up they will not notice. The audience didn't write your speech. How will they know if you leave out a sentence or forget something? So, take a deep breath, hold your head high, and just tell yourself it will be over soon.

Fascinations of the Ocean

This photo is from deviantart. fascinations

I am fascinated with the ocean and things that are involved with it. The ocean is so breathtaking! I have swam in the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic ocean. As you can tell I love to travel.

One thing I find interesting about the ocean and/or sea are the ships that sail it. I love looking at pictures of old ships. Pirate ships are especially cool. One ship in particular I enjoy researching is the Whydah Gally. The Whydah had once been a slave ship until it was captured by the pirate Samuel Bellamy. (The picture is not the Whydah.) The pirate only captained the ship for a short while. Samuel and his crew were caught in a storm and the ship sunk. Barry Clifford knew the story of Samuel and he started the Whydah Expedition. He found the sunken ship too! It was the first pirate ship in the world to be excavated.

I also like lighthouses. It goes with the theme of pirate ships and oceans. I have never been to a lighthouse, but one day I hope to go to one and be able to go inside. I think that would be very neat. I read a book called Vampirates by Justin Somper. At the beginning the main characters live in a lighthouse. Wouldn't that be cool to live in a lighthouse?

Bengal Tigers

I took this picture at an aquarium in Texas. Bengal tigers are by far my favorite animals. They are so powerful and majestic. I took this picture on my phone and thought it was the cutest thing I had ever seen. They seem to be looking right at each other.

It was a pleasant surprise to see two of them at the aquarium. I stayed and watched the two tigers roam around in their glass cage for a long time. I didn't' want to leave. They are beautiful in pictures, yes, but you don't know how beautiful they are till you see them in real life. It's strange how so much beauty can be so deadly.

I can't help, but wonder what is going through both the little girl's and the tiger's mind. Does she understand that only glass is keeping the carnivore away from her? Is the tiger thinking about food or is it merely curiosity?

The Princess Bride

This photo is from harcourtbooks.com.

The Princess Bride is my favorite movie! I have even read the book by William Goldman. The movie is a classic! I remember watching it with my grandpa when I was younger. He would always fast forward through the frightening parts. You might wonder what would be scary in that movie. If you think about a little kid watching it a rodent of unusual size is quite frightening. The memories of watching it with my grandpa makes the movie that much more enjoyable.

Almost evey member of my family knows the entire movie, because of how many times I have watched it at home. We took a vacation one time and visited a church for the Sunday morning service. When one of the preachers started speaking my dad and I had to hold back laughter. He sounded like the clergy from this movie and if you have ever seen The Princess Bride you know why it is so funny.

All these memories and just the movie itself is wonderful. That is why I enjoy it so much. My mother and I are always quoting the movie and sharing inside jokes. This movie brings people together! That is why it is my favorite.

Creative

This photo is from GizFactory.

I love to read books. A new book always makes me smile. Books that take me away to a new world are always full of excitement and adventure. One of my favorite authors is Melissa Marr. She wrote the Wicked Lovely series and her writing is enthralling.

I love to write as well. I hope that my writings will someday be as good as Melissa's. Creativity is something very important to me. Creativity comes with a person's imagination and if you did not have an imagination life would be very boring in my opinion.

I enjoy series, but sometimes the wait is horrible. I am sure everyone has finished a book and just desired more! It probably ended in a cliff hanger and you can't wait for the next to come out. Unfortunately, it doesn't come out till the fall of next year. That always makes me sad. Vivian Vande Velde is a very good author. I have had the privilege to enjoy a few of her books. The only thing I found disappointing was that she doesn't write sequels. She wants the reader to be creative and imagine what the outcome should be or could have been.
